These fish patron you find on the walkways along the beach in Barra. Little black an white stones are unique to Rio. You see them at the Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon.

Driving or crossing this road needs a lot of skills and courage. Hope I have both because its the only main road to get somewhere.

We have moved and in the area where we live, there is no bridge, we use a little boat to cross the small canal. It's very peaceful and you see a fair amount of wildlife.

Love this shopping mall it is open air with a lots of shade and wonderful greenery, its not so crowded and a lot smaller than Barra Shopping, but I can find here almost every thing I need. And the girls from the coffee shop are darlings.

Flora and fauna

Last Sunday we made a trip to Jardim Bôtanico, a beautiful park with enormous palms , wonderful flowers and and oasis of peace and rest and it was cool, lots of shade. A must for our future visitors.

Hooray ,,, after 2,5 months our air freight arrived.

I have no idea why it took so long for a couple of books and some clothing. Well at least we have something else to wear.

ice skating

During my stay in Nordic countries like Norway and Scotland I never had the desire to unpack my skates. When I saw an ice rink in Down Town Shopping and saw Brazilians skating. Being Dutch, it felt like a disgrace not to skate. So after aproximately 15 years,

I skated (stumbled) away.

I went shopping in the biggest mall from Rio, and there it was Dutch national pride Clemens and August. That was the last shop I would expect in Barra Shopping.

I had a nice swim this morning the sun was shining bright and clear.

Staying more than 2 months in the hotel, we are promoted to VIP guests, we got so far; a fruit basket, a large plate full of meat and cheeses and today two nice desserts with the compliments of the general manager.

Did some laundry this morning, all by hand and with coconut soap, can't wait to use a washing machine.
